A fryer breaks down halfway through Friday evening service. An oven stops heating when you need it most. A fridge struggles overnight and you arrive the next morning worried about the food inside it.
Breakdowns cost time and money. They can leave staff working around faulty equipment and make a busy kitchen much harder to run. Regular servicing can help find faults before equipment stops working completely.
Hines Commercial Catering Solutions provides commercial catering maintenance contracts for pubs, restaurants, cafés, hotels, schools, care homes and other commercial kitchens across Wiltshire, Hampshire and Berkshire.
We can service your catering equipment annually or twice a year, depending on what you have and how much you use it.

A maintenance contract means your kitchen equipment gets checked and serviced at agreed times throughout the year.
Instead of waiting until something breaks, we'll visit your site and check the equipment covered by your contract. This gives us a chance to find wear, damage and faults that may otherwise go unnoticed.
Your contract can cover cooking, washing, gas and refrigeration equipment, depending on what you have on site.
We can arrange annual or bi-annual visits and agree what's covered before the contract starts.
That means you know which equipment we're looking after, when we'll visit and what work is included.

Planned preventative maintenance, often called PPM, means servicing equipment before a breakdown forces you to act.
Regular catering equipment maintenance can help you:
Regular servicing can't stop every breakdown. Parts can still fail.
What it can do is give us a chance to find worn parts and smaller faults before they cause more trouble.
A machine can appear to be working normally while something inside it is starting to fail.
During routine servicing, faults have included:
These are real examples of the type of problem that can be found during planned maintenance.
Regular servicing means an engineer can inspect and test equipment rather than waiting until the fault becomes obvious to kitchen staff.
Your commercial kitchen servicing will be based on the equipment included in your contract.
During a planned visit, we can:
If we find a problem, we'll tell you what we've found and what needs doing.
You can then deal with the fault before it gets worse rather than finding out about it when the equipment stops during service.

Gas ovens, ranges, fryers and grills can be used for hours every day. They need to be checked and serviced safely.
HCCS is Gas Safe registered, registration number 969212.
Our gas catering equipment servicing can include inspection and testing of the commercial gas appliances covered by your maintenance contract.
Where needed, we can also carry out a CP42 gas safety inspection. CP42 covers gas safety checks for commercial catering equipment.
A commercial catering gas safety certificate can be issued following the inspection where applicable.
You may need gas safety records for your own files, and landlords, insurers or Environmental Health Officers may also ask for them.
Refrigeration problems aren't always obvious.
A fridge or freezer may still be running but taking longer to cool. Temperatures may start to rise, seals can wear and parts can become dirty or damaged.
This can increase running costs and make it harder to keep food at the right temperature. If the problem gets worse, you could lose stock.
Our commercial refrigeration maintenance checks can cover operating temperatures, condensers, evaporators, door seals and the general condition of the unit.
We'll tell you if we find signs that the equipment needs further work.

A small café doesn't need the same maintenance plan as a hotel kitchen running from breakfast through to evening service.
We'll look at the equipment you want covered and how much you use it. We'll then agree which machines go on the contract and how often we need to service them.
Visits can be arranged around your opening hours where possible, so we're not working in the kitchen at your busiest time.
If you add or replace equipment later, speak to us and we can review what's covered.
You get a catering equipment service contract based on your kitchen rather than paying for work you don't need.

How often your equipment needs servicing depends on how hard it works.
A restaurant or pub open seven days a week may have ovens, fryers, grills and refrigeration running for long periods every day. In this type of kitchen, servicing twice a year may make sense.
Bi-annual servicing can also suit sites with heavily used fryers or refrigeration that's working hard throughout the year.
An annual service may suit lighter-use kitchens such as smaller cafés, staff canteens and some school kitchens that mainly operate during term time.
We'll discuss your equipment and how you use it before recommending a schedule.
Restaurants and pubs often use ovens, grills and fryers for long periods, so regular servicing can help keep on top of wear.
Hotels may use kitchen equipment from breakfast through to evening service, making downtime hard to work around.
Schools and nurseries can arrange planned servicing around meal times and term dates, with DBS-checked engineers available.
Care homes rely on their kitchens every day and need equipment they can depend on for regular meal service
Staff canteens can use planned servicing to keep cooking, washing and refrigeration equipment checked throughout the year.
Cafés often have smaller kitchens, so losing one main appliance can have a big effect on what they can serve.
Regular servicing can reduce the risk of breakdowns, but it can't stop every part from failing.
If something does go wrong between planned visits, HCCS also provides emergency catering equipment repairs.
If an oven, fryer, dishwasher or another piece of equipment stops working, give us a call and tell us what's happened. We'll arrange a visit based on engineer availability.
Using HCCS for both planned maintenance and breakdown work also means you have one commercial kitchen maintenance company looking after your catering equipment.
Please reach us at info@hccsltd.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The cost depends on the type and amount of equipment you want covered and how often it needs servicing. Tell us about your kitchen and we'll provide a quote based on what you need.
It depends on the equipment and how much you use it. A busy kitchen may benefit from servicing twice a year, while an annual visit may suit a lighter-use site.
